Get Free Exchange Continuity Service from LiveOffice

Adding disaster recovery/continuity to Exchange is usually a hassle, and expensive. Now Hosted Exchange 2007 and SaaS email archiving vendor LiveOffice is offering a free and easy-to-implement alternative called LiveOffice Mail Continuity. In summary:

  • You change your primary MX record to point to LiveOffice's IP address so that your mail is routed through LiveOffice's network.
  • During an outage, users can access a rolling seven-day archive of their recent messages via a dedicated folder in Outlook or remotely through a Web-based Outlook-like interface.
  • The Mail Continuity interface also allows users to compose, read, forward, reply to, spell check, and format messages during the downtime.

For more information, go here. LiveOffice's hope is that some people will find it a natural step to go from the free continuity service to purchasing more robust SaaS archiving, and/or to swapping over to a hosted version of Exchange 2007 from their currently internal Exchange system. Sounds like a good deal for all concerned. ... David Ferris
